Pictured are 6 panelists on stage debating the future of inner cities. The audience is watching.

Rethinking City centers

The central question of the event series City Center Dialog Ruhr : What does the city center of the future look like? Because the inner cities of the Metropole Ruhr have a future if they meet the demand for consumption, but also for work, living space, mobility and energy with contemporary infrastructure.

City Center dialog invites to a change of perspective

Changing perspectives, questioning the familiar and overcoming old dependencies. Together with the municipalities, this is precisely what makes up the City Center Dialog Ruhr. From September 2022 to September 2023, the five specialist events did not deal with familiar patterns of thought and action. Their core topics were work and business, urban traffic and (city) logistics, city center management, planning law and building regulations, quality of life in the city. The last event takes up European impulses.

Be iteratively successful for a strong future of city centers

City center professionals from economic development agencies, city planning offices, city marketing companies and the real estate industry in the Metropole Ruhr looked at recipes for success and key projects in Gelsenkirchen, Recklinghausen, Gladbeck, Bochum and Duisburg from which the Ruhr region can learn. Because in order to move forward more quickly, it is important to be courageous and simply try out new things.
