Why ammonia? Hydrogen is difficult to transport over long distances. Ammonia, on the other hand, can be liquefied and transported relatively easily. At its destination, it is then split back into hydrogen and nitrogen. It is precisely this process that will be tested in Scholven in the future.

During our visit, we took a look behind the scenes at the construction site and spoke with the project partners about the project’s significance for the future hydrogen economy. The project is funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection, and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
