Symbiosis of local supply, health, care and mobility

A new symbiosis of local supply, health, care and mobility is being created in Forum Mülheim, a shopping center in the middle of the city since 1974. The focus is on the health sector. For this repositioning, the first floor and the basement, with a total of 14,500 m², are being extensively converted. The resulting new "Forum Medikum" will offer practice areas of between 150 and 2,500 m² for service providers from the fields of medicine, therapy and care, which will complement the retail and gastronomy areas on the ground and basement floors.

The gastronomy area will also be given a new modern design. In addition, a day-care centre for children will be set up on the ground floor. Investment sum for the redesign: 50 million euros. The interlinking of the different areas of life creates synergies and more quality of stay and service for the entire center. In addition, the redesign integrates elements of "Healing Architecture" for the first time in a European center, which are intended to positively influence people's psychological and physical well-being and reduce stress factors as much as possible. These include large-scale images from the "good old days" and lots of greenery, which are intended to put the public in a positive and open mood. Sensory stimuli such as scents and music are also being tested. Further plus points are the underground car park with 860 parking spaces as well as the direct connection to the pedestrian zone and public transport in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station with ICE stop.
