Parkstadt Mülheim

The former headquarters of the Tengelmann Group is located in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The building and the associated property are considered architectural witnesses to German economic history. In the coming years, SORAVIA will develop a new and lively urban quarter of the future here from the old industrial buildings of various eras in the midst of extensive parks.

The team consisting of the Viennese architectural firm StudioVlayStreeruwitz and the landscape planning firm PlanSinn won the urban planning competition initiated by SORAVIA and the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr in October 2021 for the comprehensive redesign of PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM. The focus of the design is on preserving the already unique campus atmosphere and on maintaining the 27,000-square-meter park area, including the historic tree population. PARKSTADT MÜLHEIM will not only provide living and working space, but will also realize a trend-setting holistic concept for ecology, sustainability and climate resilience. In the center of the district, SORAVIA is building a lake that will provide an attractive and cooling attraction for local recreation for the surrounding mix of existing and new buildings. The development of the former Tengelmann headquarters is currently one of the most ambitious development projects in Germany and will become a nationwide beacon project for neighborhood development. Around 60% of the existing rental space has already been filled with life through marketing by Brockhoff GmbH, a member of the SORAVIA Group.
