The family-owned company gb Implantat-Technologie GmbH from Essen is a global manufacturer of high-quality orthopedic implant components. Since it was no longer possible to expand at the previous location in Essen, the company chose the Gesundheitscampus Süd in Bochum. Only companies from the health industry are located there, so that the synergies of this extraordinary environment can be used.
gb Implantat-Technologie GmbH is the first company on the approximately 55,000 square meter site that not only researches and develops, but also produces on the premises near the university. Here, the manufacturer of medical implants is building a production hall with an office building and two company apartments. The company is characterized by a high degree of vertical integration: From the development of its own alloys and the production of high-quality materials to the production of implants such as shoulder, hip and knee joints. The company, which is a world leader in this specialized field, now employs 70 people. Surrounded by a purely office development, the company is moving its machining operation, mechanical production, quality control and administration into the new commercial property. The foundry operation for the production of high-quality implant alloys and implant casting blanks will initially remain at the previous location in Essen. The company has acquired and developed a plot of land of approx. 4,900 sqm for the 1st BA and has optioned a further approx. 3,600 sqm for the 2nd BA.
