Power places for founders in the Ruhr region: The network of innovation centres Ruhr
You already have good reasons for your new business. What you need is a place that allows you to grow flexibly. One that doesn't put too much strain on your company account during your seed & growth phase. But it's still prestigious and offers a modern infrastructure. You are looking for a place with like-minded people who can exchange ideas with you over lunch or an after-work beer. A place that doesn't just stand on its own but is networked with an entire region. One that networks you and brings you together with the right people who can help you get ahead.
The innovation centres in the Metropole Ruhr offer you just that: offices, workshops and laboratories at fair prices. Good architecture and fast fibre-optic internet. A strong community with many other founders. And lots of local support thanks to excellent networking with universities, business development agencies and industry. Power places that help you get started!
The right Innovation Centre for your foundation - with details and contact persons
Offices, workshops and laboratories - with or without coaching, for short-term rent and including convenient transport connections: Filter the Innovation Centres Ruhr interactively and get suitable results that correspond exactly to your needs. You can find detailed information and contact persons for our suggested innovation centres by clicking on your individual recommendations.
There are currently 29 technology, start-up and innovation centres in our network. There is hardly anything like this density anywhere else in Europe.
Innovation centres are excellently linked with the municipal economic development agencies. This means you can get help quickly if you are mulling over your business plan, need a start-up loan, want to give your start-up an injection of venture capital or need coaching. In addition, there are often offers for the community on site. From business breakfasts to after-work beers to fuck-up nights.
In the Metropole Ruhr you can count on specialised innovation centres in the life science sector in Bochum, Bönen, Dortmund and Witten. You also benefit from the proximity of the research-intensive Ruhr University and the Technical University of Dortmund.
Bochum is becoming a hotspot for cybersecurity and IT security. G-Data, the Horst Görtz Institute of the Ruhr University, the eurobits e.V. competence centre and the new Max Planck Institute for Cybersecurity provide a secure basis here. In addition to the ZITS innovation centre in Bochum, you'll also find excellent infrastructure in the Gelsenkirchen Science Park, the Triple Z in Essen and the Dortmund Technology Centre.
I have an innovative idea that doesn't come from the university - can I take it to the Innovation Centre?
Then all you need is an office? Almost all locations that are 'broadly' dedicated to the topic of founding offer you one. If you want to produce something, many locations also offer a combination of office space and workshops. Look at the Gladbeck Innovation Centre, the Triple Z in Essen, the EEZ in Bochum or the Ökozentrum Hamm. Here you will find smart solutions for different space requirements.
The Innovation Centres Ruhr offer a wide range of services for start-ups with engineering ideas. Nanotechnology at the MST.factory Dortmund. Production technology at the Centre for Production Technology in Dortmund. Energy efficiency and additive manufacturing at EEZ Bochum. Environmental technology at TZU Oberhausen or Tectrum Duisburg. This is also related to strong research locations in the region.
Of course! In the Metropole Ruhr you can use our tool Matchmaker.Ruhr to make new b2b contacts, take part in challenges or make requests to other companies. Get connected!
And: We will soon be launching a regional platform where you, as a start-up, can rent laboratory equipment, technical equipment, and laboratories on a short-term basis. Numerous universities and colleges in the region as well as the Ruhr Innovation Centres are also involved.
